pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian statistik di mana populasi dipisahkan
menjadi beberapa area dan kemudian sampel diambil secara acak dari setiap area.

Fisher (1950), "Area sampling involves
the division of the whole area of interest into a number of small areas which
are then treated as separate sampling units."
Bartlett (1946), "Area sampling consists of dividing the total
area into smaller, non-overlapping units, called segments or sub-areas, and
then choosing a sample of these units by random selection."
Cochran (1977), "Area sampling is a
method in which the total population is divided into geographical or
administrative units, from each of which a sample is drawn."
